At Xerocon London 2026, Xero celebrated its 20-year anniversary with major AI announcements. CEO Sukhinder Singh Cassidy unveiled a comprehensive AI strategy centred on JAX (Just Ask Xero), now rebranded as a financial superagent designed to automate routine workflows and deliver insights tailored to individual businesses.
What's New for Accounting Practices
JAX will be embedded across the Xero platform with multiple AI agents working together. Key new features include automated payment follow-ups in Xero Payments, smart document capture that extracts data from invoices and receipts, and integration with Xero Corporation Tax. The platform now integrates with tax planning tools and bridges to accounting software stacks used by SME and Ltd company accountants.
Remarkably, over 20,000 customers have already connected the Claude integration since its launch 60 days ago, demonstrating significant demand for AI-assisted bookkeeping and compliance work.
New Products for SMEs and Mid-Market
Xero also unveiled Xero Ultra, targeting mid-market firms, leveraging features from the Syft Analytics acquisition. The Xero Force custom AI agent builder enables accountants to create tailored agents for their workflows without coding. Smart Document Capture automates data extraction, eliminating manual invoice and receipt entry.
